Handy Wall Pocket
I made this as a present for my husband, hope that you can find it useful too
Finish size is : 2 x 5,8 x 6″ h – now let’s make it !
you will need:
-Fabrics: 2 square (8×8″) for the exterior, 2 (8×8″) for the lining, 1 (4×4″) for the label, 1 (4×2″) for the handle
-Other: 4 pcs buttons, matching color yarn, cereal box, and cute hook for the wall
-Tools: needle, sewing machine, measurement, and scissors
Let’s do this steps:
1. cut the corner of your exterior and lining around 1″ (coz I want to make the bottom size about 1,5″)
2. on the lining, sew both sides, sew the bottom part but leave 2″ opening
3. put both bottom corner together, and sew it twice to make it strong
this is the result
4. do the same thing for the exterior fabric, without leaving any opening
5. put them a side, let’s make the handle. fold the fabric in half, press/iron, open it again you can see a line in the middle,
fold sides of the fabrics to the line, press/iron, and fold it again.
pin and sew with your favorites pattern from your sewing machine
here’s the result
6. measure your exterior, pin the handle evenly from the middle
7. flip back the lining, and put it in the exterior. good sides together
8. make sure each sides meet nicely, then pin all around
the position of handle is inside/ between both fabrics, like this
9. sew it all around, and flip it back using the 2″ opening from the lining bottom part
10. measure the exterior/body part, and cut your cereal box accordingly
11. put it inside thru the 2″ opening and adjust
12. put it aside, and prepare the label – stitch the words
13. put the buttons on the label, mark it and make button holes, sew them on the exterior
Note: you can change the label anytime, that’s why I use the buttons
14. almost done, now we close the 2″ opening on the lining bottom using zigzag stitch.
15. this is how it looks, now pin all the top part, and sew
and you are DONE …
